| Checklist for Spring fracture |

 |
|
| Steps Recommended to Avoid Spring Fracture |
- All formed/bend Components produced from pre hardened
& tempered strips should be stress relieved.
- All forming & bending should be done in line of grain
(length).
- All edge burrs should be removed or produced in such a
way that burrs are minimized. Springs tend to fracture from
burrs when stress is applied.
- Hardening should be carried out in inert atmosphere or
in medium of inert gases to avoid surface decarburisations.
- Process of hydrogen de-embrittlement is a must after electroplating
or acid cleaning and should be carried out immediate without
any loss of time.
- Holes, drawing, etc should be done away from edges so
as not to make the spring weak.
